The trip took place on Saturday 20th August 2022 with 14 Parishioners, Fr. Manoj and Fr. Stanly travelling by bus whilst about 20 others travelled by car. Time was given to explore the island before we celebrated Mass in the Catholic Church on the island. We were joined by Fr. Paul coming down from Berwick and a number of visitors to the island. Some of the visitors commented it had been the best Mass they had attended in some considerable time. After the conclusion of Mass we had a shared table with a good variety of plentiful food before setting off to return home to Cramlington. Special thanks to Terry R for organising the trip.

Maria Gaucci:
Several years ago the Justice and Peace Group decided to assist Maria Gaucci, a registered Nurse and F.M.M. Sister, in building and running a free school for children in Madagascar. These children, whose parents could not afford School Fees, would not otherwise have received any education. Parishioners kindly donated to a collection whilst others set up Direct Debits which enabled Maria to build the school and pay the salaries for 2 teachers for 2 years. Sadly Maria, 3 months short of her 84th birthday, passed away in Madagascar on 19th January 2020.
